Warning spoilers! The following article shows the plot of the last episode of “Legacy”.
On May 28, Succession said goodbye to the small screen, finally answering the question that has been left unanswered throughout the series: Who will lead Logan Roy (Brian Cox) at Waystar?
Among the contestants we had Logan’s eldest son Kendall (Jeremy Strong), daughter Shiv (Sarah Snook) and youngest son Roman (Kieran Culkin) – the eldest, Connor (Alan Ruck), who was not interested in his father’s empire.
But after the patriarch’s death earlier in the season and in the final minutes of the final episode, the story finally takes a surprising turn, and Waystar’s board votes to sell the company to Swedish tech tycoon Lukas Matson (Alexander Skarsgård). Tom Wambsgans (Matthew Macfadyen), Shiv’s ex-husband, then becomes her American CEO.
However, after episode 4 of last season, the debate started. Indeed, after Logan, Frank (Peter Friedman) discovered an undated document that purportedly named Kendall as the heir. However, the line was drawn over Kendall’s name and then her name, raising the question of whether Logan wanted Kendall’s name underlined or crossed out: a distinction that would reveal his true intentions regarding his legacy.
Jesse Armstrong finally settles the debate. Speaking at a Financial Times event in London last week (Variety), the series creator spoke about the document, which appeared to be Logan’s last will, and in particular the famous line…
“If you crossed something, you wouldn’t start at the bottom, would you?– he asked the audience rhetorically.
Legacy creator Jesse Armstrong confirms that Logan Roy underlined Kendall’s name, which is not crossed out.

“Legacy creator Jesse Armstrong confirms that Logan Roy underlined Kendall’s name and did not cross it out. “If you crossed something out, you wouldn’t start from the bottom.”“
Therefore, this suggests that Logan wanted his son to become Kendall. Alas, it was not, and will never know.
Legacy can be seen in its entirety on Amazon Prime Video (via Warner Pass).
