Palmeiras have announced the deadline for the recovery of number 7 Dudu, who suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and a meniscus injury.

The striker underwent surgery last week and began physiotherapy this Monday (11), under the care of the Health and Performance Centre.

According to the club, Dudu is expected to return to action within nine to 12 months. Injured since August 27, the number 7 will now not even be able to touch the ground with his feet in the coming weeks.

– Honestly, I never thought I would suffer something like this: knee surgery, six weeks without putting my feet on the ground. It’s very bad, very painful, but it happens, you have to move on. Today was my first day of physiotherapy, I am very happy to have taken this step and to be here at the Football Academy. I hadn’t been here for a week and I already missed it. But now it’s time to think about the future, about evolution. We see the affection we have from the employees, from the players. I already had a great love and affection for the physiotherapist Marcelão (Gondo) and now he is even greater. It’s about thanking him for everything he is doing for me, the fans for their love and, God willing, next year we will be together again – he said.

In 2023, Dudu made 42 appearances, all as a starter, and scored three goals and seven assists.

Dudu was honored as soon as he left the games. In the first match both the fans and the club showed support for the number 7.

– I am happy for the affection of the fans, the players and everyone. For the athlete, this is a very difficult time and knowing that people care about us and that everyone is rooting for our recovery makes us stronger and happier. In moments of sadness, it makes us happy because of the affection and love we receive from the fans, from the people who work with me and from those who are helping me. I hope to return as soon as possible to continue my journey here at Palmeiras – reported the attacker.

He also revealed that he has received messages from people who had the same injury as him, but who have not had the chance to receive the medical treatment he will have at Palmeiras.

– I have received many messages from people who have been injured in this way and who do not have the structure that I have, all this support for surgery and post-surgery. This makes me very happy for the structure I have, for all the affection and for these next few months of recovery. Having Palmeiras and all these people by my side makes me much more confident and happy – she concluded.
