Barely released and already number one on Prime Video, The Sentinel is Jonathan Cohen’s new breakthrough. After Serge Le Mito or Marc, the actor slips into the skin of a new sly character: the policeman and singer François Sentinel, born of his new collaboration with Hugo Benamozig and David Caviglioli (The Terrible Jungle).
This crazy comedy follows the daily life of François Sentinel, the most famous policeman on Reunion Island, known for his muscular methods and flowery shirts, but also a glamorous singing career based solely on the success of his hit “The Kiki”. .
For several years, he tried in vain to start his musical career again. When a wave of violent crimes affecting the local elites shakes the island, Sentinel has to choose between a life as a police officer and a life as a singer, and he doesn’t really want to investigate.
This energetic, straightforward detective comedy once again allows Jonathan Cohen to put on his eccentric show with a fine cast including Raphael Couinard, Emmanuelle Bercot, Ramsay Bedia, Gustave Kervern, Jesse Ugolin and Laurent Everett Orland.
Comedy “200% Jonathan Cohen” number 1 on Prime Video
Building on Jonathan Cohen’s popularity, Sentinelle easily topped Prime Video’s top viewing charts and caused a stir on social media. And the vast majority of fans nicknamed “Jocko” were there, loving the eccentric and edgy show that is Sentinel.
Even if some have expressed reservations about the length, writing and content of this comedy, the entertainment is generally well received by Prime Video subscribers and has already caused several bursts of laughter at iconic moments.
#Sentinel A bit of Magnum with Cohen sauce
Funny jokes and puns without too serious, absurd, but well-presented situations. Weird characters, I loved the character of Ramsay and Raphael Cuenard who are brilliant
Back to school, good pic.twitter.com/tjFA48MJoO

I love selfless and crazy comedies, they’re not ordinary and that’s what #Sentinel, a gift from the inspired duo behind the already excellent TERRIBLE JUNGLE. We feel the influence of Pharrell, Zazz, McKay and other nonsense that is still very rare in France. pic.twitter.com/rVUlu95kyh

Is it okay? #Sentinel No cheating on the merchandise, this is 200% Jonathan Cohen, even if his character is pretty nasty at times (the guy isn’t really pretty, he needs to get prettier in 2). “It’s really not bad their typography” I laughed. pic.twitter.com/iLQilxsLEh

Yes, you always need the same. But this mix of Sonny Crockett and Frank Drebin works. Not perfect, but honestly funny, with some already iconic moments #Sentinel pic.twitter.com/csZGqs1yZU

“gneu gneu J. Cohen always plays the same role”: like de Funes and? His talent was especially often improved in the middle of the 2nd roles + or – Gadget (Flame, Torch) #Sentinel He finally gets to shine on his own (with R. Couinard as a turbo sparring partner) and it’s hilarious pic.twitter.com/wv8cpTzoEi

I laughed, a very fat laugh, but I laughed!! Jonathan Cohen, working with Jonathan Cohen, association with Couinard as a friend in the film, absurd and silly humor as desired and pronounced and well-infused influence 🤣

#Sentinel It’s very funny when you like Coen’s humor and Cuenard is definitely the actor of the year.
But it’s a shame to have Cohen defend his achievements and make a real, more advanced suggestion of a detective movie parody.
But still worth watching for fun. pic.twitter.com/LBd84lSJSJ

#Sentinel is Cohen’s film in its purest form, where the genius of humor shines through.
But which can also seem too long for a 1h30 movie.
In comparison, the series created by Cohen are much better thanks to their shorter episode formats. pic.twitter.com/d94PTOvWvI

After Sentinel, you’ll be able to find Jonathan Cohen in completely different registers as he appears in Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache’s A Difficult Year and Daaaaali! by Quentin Dupierre, coming soon to the cinema.
And if you missed the good news, know that the actor is working on a sequel to The Flame and the Flambeau! In which new reality or entertainment adventure will we find the now very famous MAAAAARC?
The Sentinel movie is available on Prime Video.
