The partnership between Anitta and TXT goes viral with the 2023 VMAs

Anitta and the South Korean group Tomorrow New Jersey (USA). The partnership marked the debut of the song “Back for More”, and also the first time a Brazilian artist performed on an international stage with a K-Pop group.

The start of the show was entrusted to the members of TXT, who captured the attention with digitalized water and thunder effects, as well as intense choreography, and made the audience dance to the sound of 19th century funk, strongly inspired to Michael Jackson. Entering the stage during the song, Anitta not only brought her own vocal contributions but also took some risks in the choreography.

The song encompasses elements of Brazilian funk, demonstrated in a surprising dance break, and danceable K-pop, and is a preview of TXT’s upcoming album, titled “The Name Chapter: FREEFALL”.

Repercussion

Taylor Swift, who reacted to all of the evening’s performances, was more enthusiastic than usual about the performance, raising her arms and putting her hands on her face with excitement and unbelievability.

Videos of the collaboration quickly went viral on social media and was called the “Collaboration of the Year” by unsuspecting K-Pop fans. All indications are that “Back for More” is expected to be a huge hit when it is officially released, scheduled for Friday (9/15).

In addition to performing at the MTV event, the new partners also received awards. Anitta won the trophy for Best Latin Video for “Funk Rave” and the TXT for Best Push Performance for “Sugar Rush Ride”.
