Polar air enters the south and the extratropical cyclone moves away

A cold front formed on Wednesday 13 September over southern Brazil and Paraguay, from areas of heavy clouds which had already been causing heavy rain in Rio Grande do Sul since Tuesday 12 September.

Together with the organization of the cold front, the formation of an extratropical cyclone also occurred. This cyclone formed last night, September 13, on the coast of Rio Grande do Sul, and during this Thursday the 14th it will move rapidly towards the high seas, away from southern Brazil.

The cyclone does not pass over the states of the Southern Region and does not advance towards the South-East.

The letter B in the satellite image represents the center of low atmospheric pressure associated with the extratropical cyclone. The approximate locations of the low pressure center are indicated in the image.
