The Chosen: cast and synopsis of the Netflix series

Launched on August 16, 2023, the series “O Eleito” was a success on Netflix. Inspired by the comic American Jesus, the plot tells the story of a Mexican boy who realizes he has powers equal to those of Jesus Christ.

The cast of The Elect consists of Bobby Luhnow, who stars in the role of Jodie. Besides him, there are newcomers Juanito Anguamea (Tuka), Lilith Amelie Siordia Mejia (Magda), Alberto Pérez-Jácome (Wagner) and Jorge Javier Arballo (Hipólito). Seasoned actors include: Carlos Bardem (Che Part 2), Alfonso Dosal (Sem Filhos), Tenoch Huerta (Lemuel) and Dianna Agron (Sarah).

Synopsis

Jodie is a 12 year old boy living in Mexico. He realizes that he has powers similar to those of Jesus, such as turning water into wine, walking on water, and raising the dead. In the plot he will have to decide whether or not to accept the gifts.

Among the events of The Chosen One is the discovery, by religious members of the community, of Jodie’s powers. With this, he is convinced that he must use his powers to bring peace to the world. However, the boy’s intention is different: to impress his friend Magda (Lilith Amelie Siordia Mejia) and get rid of the bullies. As the story progresses, the teenager makes discoveries about his past and everything changes.

Episodes

The series consists of six episodes: Arrival; Miracles; Awakening; True or false?; Faith and Revelation. Most audiences and critics approved of the plot. However, Netflix has not yet confirmed whether there will be a second season, but the series finale suggests there could be a sequel.
