President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva arrived on Saturday evening (16) in New York, United States, for the 78th edition of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
The trip took place immediately after the agenda of commitments in Cuba, on the occasion of the G77+China summit.
The president will remain in New York until next Thursday (21st), with a program of meetings with businessmen and politicians, including two meetings with Joe Biden.
A bilateral meeting will be held on Wednesday (20th), then the launch of a joint initiative with a work program is expected.
According to the Brazilian government, this is a global initiative to promote workers’ rights in the 21st century economy.
Usually, Brazil’s speech opens the summit.
It is the second time that the Brazilian president has visited the United States.
