On September 7, Netflix released the 5th season of Virgin River. After more than a year of waiting, the subscribers of the American platform were able to find Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) in a new stream of episodes, which were once again rich in emotions and events. And this, from the opening…
The first episode of season 5 really stands out with the sudden departure of Paige (Lexa Doig) and her son after Vince Logan’s arrest. While she is now free to live her life without hiding, Paige still makes the decision to leave Virgin River with Christopher (Chase Petriew). She then asks the preacher (Colin Lawrence) to come with them, but he refuses. He is too attached to the city and prefers to stay in Virgin River. So Paige leaves the series.
Is Paige’s departure permanent?
Paige’s departure at the end of the first episode of Virgin River season 5 does not necessarily mean that the character will completely disappear from the Netflix series. If there’s a sense of finality to the moment Paige says goodbye to the preacher, it’s that she’s going back to town anyway.
After arriving in the first season, the young woman often left Virgin River and always returned. At this time, neither Lexa Doig nor the producers have communicated about a possible return to the series. It is therefore difficult to say whether this departure is permanent.
Especially since in the novels from which the series is adapted, Paige is always present. In the second book, the preacher and Paige get together. If the Virgin River writers decide to integrate this storyline, the character should return one day.
But since the series began, writers have often taken liberties with their adaptations of Robin Carr’s novels, casting doubt on Paige’s possible return. So we’ll have to wait until the second part of season 5 hits the web on November 30 to find out if the character played by Lexa Doig will return.
