Netflix has released the trailer for the reality show inspired by its most successful series, “Round 6”, which brings contestants together in a dispute for $4.5 million, the largest prize in the history of competitive television gaming. The preview shows several scenes that evoke the series, from the aesthetics to the recreation of the challenges seen in the episodes. It also reveals the attraction’s debut date.
The competition “Squid Game: The Challenge” (original title) attracted many applicants. Recorded in two British studios, the competition began with 456 contestants from around the world. And many people also represented a lot of criticism and complaints.
Problems behind the scenes
From the first day of recording (01/23), reports began to emerge that the production was problematic. “It was the cruelest, meanest thing I ever experienced,” one former contestant told Rolling Stone magazine. Among the complaints raised were the intense cold of filming in the UK winter and the fact that the competitions would be rigged so that certain people would advance, some of them internet celebrities.
One participant told Rolling Stone magazine that he suffered a herniated disc and hamstring injury. “My legs were completely numb,” he explained, adding that when he tried to go to the bathroom after being eliminated from the game, he fell down the stairs because he couldn’t feel his feet or legs. Another player says she developed pneumonia and an ear infection.
Netflix statement
Netflix had previously said that three participants had sought medical attention for minor problems, but had maintained that the production was safe, saying it had “invested in all appropriate safety procedures”. “Although it was very cold on set – and participants were prepared – any claims of serious injuries are false,” the platform said in a statement.
The premiere will take place on November 22nd.
