David Ayer is angry. The American, known for directing 2016’s Suicide Squad with Will Smith and Jared Leto, as well as the war film Fury with Brad Pitt, recently spoke about his experience watching the first Fast & Furious film, which hit theaters in 2001, and was among them. “There are people who hijack, control and create stories to give themselves power. But I’ve always been an outsider, I don’t go to their parties.” says David Ayer. “I don’t go out to dinner, things like that. Those who go could control the stories as they socialize in the environment. Creative guy in the shadows.”
We will learn that David Ayer does not necessarily want to be friends with Hollywood in order to succeed and that he now wants to continue his path as he sees fit, without compromise. His next film, The Beekeeper, an action thriller directed by Jason Statham, is due in 2024.
