25 years after La Discrète, director Christian Vincent and producer Mathieu Tarot feel a shared desire to collaborate again with Fabrice Luchin. The two then developed a new film project that he presented to her.
Passionate about the legal world, Matthew Taro pushes Christian Vincent on this path. The latter distinguished himself by assisting in trials, most notably at Bobin’s trial of four young men accused of gang rape in a junk room. Then he discovers that the courtroom, with its audience, actors, dramaturgy, and backstage theater is similar.
Gradually, Christian Vincent imagines Fabrice Luchin in the shoes of the dreaded Assize Court president, who suddenly shows great humanity when he discovers the only woman he has ever loved among the members of the jury he presides over.
In a brilliant counter-work, Fabrice Lucchin is thus transformed into a clumsy, melancholy and moving lover in contact with the magnetic Daniel Sidse Babette Knudsen, who makes her first feature film in French here. If he was awarded the César for the best supporting role, his partner did not stay, as he won the Volpe Cup for the best actor at the Venice Film Festival.
Released in 2015, L’Hermine has received over a million admissions.
