In 2010, Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief, directed by Logan Lerman, debuted on our big screens, the first part of what was to become a trilogy adapted from the saga of novels by Rick Riordan. The film was followed by a sequel in 2013, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, and then nothing.
Ten years later, a new adaptation, this time in a series, will see the light of day on Disney+: called Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the show will be available next December and a new trailer has just been released.
As SensaCine reminds us, the previous series of books (and movies) will feature the adventures of a modern-day 12-year-old demigod, Percy Jackson, who has just received his newfound supernatural powers when the mighty Zeus accuses him of stealing them. Lightning Bolt. After that, Percy will have to search for her all over the United States to restore order to Olympus. But first he must train with the other demigods in a camp designated for them.
Just like in Harry Potter, the iconic trio is at the center of the series, Percy, Grover and Annabeth, played by a young Walker Scobell, Ariane Simhadr and Leah Jeffries respectively. Starring: Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hermes), Megan Mullally (Alecto), Toby Stevens (Poseidon), Virginia Cooley (Sally Jackson), Jason Mantzoukas (Dionysus), Jay Duplass (Hades), Glynn Thurman (Chiron), Adam Copeland (Ares), Charlie Bushnell (Luke Castellani) and Jessica Parker Kennedy (Medusa) and the late Lance Reddick as Zeus.
The mythological series will air on Disney+ from December 20, 2023, the release date of its first two episodes. They will then be followed by one episode per week.
