On January 8, the president of the CPMI calls for the deputy’s dismissal and suspends the session after discussion

Confusion occurred during General Augusto Heleno’s testimony

The president of the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) of 8 January, Arthur Maia (União-BA), interrupted the session this Tuesday, 26, after discussing with the deputy Abilio Brunini (PL-MT). Earlier, Maia had asked security to remove the lawmaker from the venue, but he refused to leave, saying that he is a member of the collegium and cannot be removed.

Brunini repeatedly interrupts colleagues and records speeches in collegial meetings, and is admonished by Maia. “I’m not leaving. Request (removal), I’m not leaving. Today I am part of it”, shouted Brunini.

The confusion occurred during the testimony of General Augusto Heleno, former minister of the Bolsonaro government’s Office for Institutional Security (GSI). The presence of the military has exacerbated the conflict between the base and the opposition. Shortly before the commotion, Heleno became angry at the questions posed by speaker Eliziane Gama (PSD-MA) and uttered a series of swear words.

“He says the things he thinks are in my head. P…, it should be p…, right. P… what the hell,” he said. MP Jandira Feghali (PCdoB-RJ) reacted by calling for respect for the speaker. “He IS very disrespectful,” she said.
