The Central Bank improved its growth estimate for the Brazilian economy in 2023 to 2.9%, from 2.0% estimated in June, as shown in the quarterly inflation report published this Thursday, which also presented a projection of an increase of 1.8% for 2024. Domestic Product (GDP).
The Ministry of Finance announced this month that it expects growth of 3.2% this year and 2.3% next year. The latest Focus survey, in turn, highlighted that the market expects a GDP expansion of 2.92% in 2023 and 1.50% in 2024.
The trend in economic activity has been surprisingly positive this year, reflecting a stronger performance in the agricultural sector in the first quarter, followed by better data in services and industry in the second quarter.
