Password sharing on Disney Plus’ days are numbered

Password sharing on Disney Plus’ days are numbered

Starting November 1, Disney+ will begin restricting password sharing between users. The first country affected by the change will be Canada.

The streaming service notified subscribers of the new policy via email, but has not yet provided many details on how it plans to enforce the new rule.

What changes

It is not yet clear whether the company will do like Netflix, offering the possibility of continuing to share an account by paying an additional cost. It was also not disclosed when the new rule would take effect in other countries such as Brazil.

Just like its competitor, Disney Plus informs that the subscription is valid only for devices “associated with your primary home”, i.e. used at the same address registered for the service.

Streaming performance

The announcement comes about a month after Disney CEO Bob Iger made the announcement confirm that the company was exploring new ways to manage shared accounts.
