Kerry Washington played Broomhilda in Django Unchained – and hoped that the heavy scene wouldn’t get off the ground
One of the main films of his career Quentin Tarantino, Django Unchainedreleased on January 18, 2013 in Brazilian cinemas, had a “brutal rape scene” in the script that was never filmed, according to Kerry Washingtoninterpreter of Broomhilda.
In an excerpt from the actress’ book, titled Thicker Than Water, she recalled how the character would flee abuse and “run naked down the street.” In fact, Washington had several criticisms and issues with these specific moments.
“Jamie [Foxx, intérprete de Django] It is Quentin [Tarantino, diretor] they stayed in the corner. The two men were looking at the dirt floor, and as I walked towards them, Tarantino announced that we were all going home,” he wrote (via The Daily Beast).
“The scene would be cut from the script. Maybe it was something Jamie said to Quentin days before and that it has finally infiltrated, perhaps something has changed for Quentin in that cabin,” he continued Kerry Washington. “Anyway, it was the answer to the prayers I whispered on my knees.”
