In his first appearance on the big screen after the performance of Jim Carrey, The Riddler is the first villain in this new hero franchise. Interpreted by Paolo Danothe character appears enigmatically in the plot and the actor’s work has aroused great expectations from both the public and the professionals involved in the film.
To the The Guardian, Reeves talked about the clash between the Riddler and Batman in an epic moment of the film: the demand for perfection required several takes to find the ideal record. “Paul loves to do a lot of takes, just like me,” the director said. “We spent two days on the final scene between him and Robert Pattinson as Batman, and we must have done easily 70 or 80 takes. Paul loves to explore. He’s obsessive about that.”
Reeves was already aware of the actor’s idea of perfectionism, as he wrote this version of the Riddler with Paul in mind. “There were all these moments like Riddler where he would get tickled by something and then go berserk, and you never knew, from one take to the next, where that change would come,” Reeves continued. “I would sit there with my headphones on, trying to stifle the laughter because he was always doing something amazing.
