One of the greatest classics of modern Brazilian literature, The Alchemist (2023) is about to become a film from production company Legendary Entertainment, according to information from Variety.
The romance of Paulo Coelho It became a worldwide bestseller, won several literary awards over the decades and currently holds the record for the most translated work by a living author.
Whoever signs the script is Jack Thorneknown for the long Extraordinary (2017), for the series His Dark Materials (2019) and by films Enola Holmes (2020), from Netflix.
Originally published in 1988, The Alchemist follows an Andalusian shepherd named Santiago. He travels in search of treasure buried in the Egyptian pyramids and finds lessons of wisdom along the way.
The idea of transforming The Alchemist in film has been going on since 2016 in Hollywood, most recently with the Overbrook Entertainment, producer of Will Smith It is Jada Pinkett Smith. None of these attempts were completed, however.
