After a wait of more than two years, Lupine makes his big return to Netflix this Thursday, October 5, for a third installment that promises to be just as raunchy as ever. Now on the run, the character, played by Omar Sy, is one of France’s most wanted men.
He who has always lived an anonymous outlaw life is now seeing his face all over France after the events of the second part. So he has no choice but to hide from Claire (Ludivine Sagnier) and Raoul (Ethan Simon).
But faced with the suffering they endure because of him, Assane Diop can’t take it anymore and decides to return to Paris to make them a crazy proposition: to leave the country to start a new life somewhere else, away from the secret.
Banish the natural, he’s back at a gallop… very quickly, Lupine will be possessed by his old demons. There is one thing he has never managed to steal: the Black Pearl, a priceless jewel taken during the Franco-Tahitian War. He wants to use the money from the flight to allow his family to leave France.
Unfortunately, if Lupine’s plan goes well, a ghost from his past reappears and thwarts his plans. Once again, Lupine will do anything to protect his family, but at what cost?
Fast season 3
Once again under the direction of George Kay, the third season of Lupine is as exciting and entertaining as ever thanks to its frenetic pace that takes us to the four corners of Paris.
If City of Lights is, as is often the case on Netflix, a beautiful postcard setting, the directors, Ludovic Bernard, Daniel Gru and Xavier Gens, still take us to the heart of the capital and do not hesitate to show us the suburbs where Assange Diop grew up.
Omar Sy fans will also be delighted to find the mischief, sense of comedy and charisma of the actor who played such a big role in Lupin’s success. As in the first two seasons, we continue to enjoy following this colorful character, whose schemes, more inventive and surprising, make us stop.
With the help of flashbacks skillfully distilled in the episodes, we also discover a new aspect of Assan Diop’s past, which allows us to better understand the character and understand his flaws.
This new burst of episodes also boasts supporting characters. Claire and Raoul, Lupine’s ex-wife and son, gain depth in this third season and prove that they are more than just useful accessories to the story.
A teenager played by Ethan Simon, who has also grown a lot since the series’ start in January 2021, begins to investigate and manages to foil one of his father’s clever schemes… a sign that the next Lupine may already be born and that the next generation of gentleman thieves of the day Will it see the light?
Story-wise, if we still get a lot of fun watching Lupine’s rhythmic adventures, this third season is very lacking in problems. It must be said that we’re starting to get a little tired of the improbable hero situations we’ve seen over and over again in the first two seasons.
Incredible costumes, incredible situations and heists with crazy scenarios: is fatigue starting to rear its ugly head? One thing is for sure, Lupine Part 3 is a treat to watch and should appeal to fans of The Gentleman Thief.
