The “Elvis” star goes to war in the first photos of “Masters of the Air,” produced by Spielberg

Apple TV+ has released the first photos of “Masters of Air”, the new miniseries produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg about the Second World War. The new project is the third production on the topic, after “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific” on HBO. Each of them follows a different Armed Force. After the Army and the Navy, the new attraction focuses on the Air Force’s commitment to the conflict of the 1940s. The images therefore highlight the actors in pilot suits and alongside war planes.

The photos highlight actors Austin Butler (“Elvis”), Callum Turner (“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”), Anthony Boyle (“Tolkien”), Nate Mann (“Licorice Pizza”), Rafferty Law (son of Jude Law ), Barry Keoghan (“Eternals”), Josiah Cross (“King Richard: Raising Champions”), Branden Cook (“Tell Me Lies”) and Ncuti Gatwa (“Sex Education”).

With 9 episodes, the production will recreate the battles of the United States Air Force against the air force of Nazi Germany. The story is inspired by the non-fiction book by Donald L. Miller, who interviewed several aviators and did extensive archive research on the war in the skies of Europe.

The screenplay is written by John Orloff, who previously worked on “Band of Brothers”, and the list of directors includes Cary Joji Fukunaga (“No Time to Die”), Dee Rees (“The Last Thing He Wanted” ), Timothy Van Patten (“The Pacific”) and the couple Ana Boden and Ryan Fleck (“Captain Marvel”).

The premiere is scheduled for January 26th.
