When we write, we create diagrams. We wonder: What if this happened? and also this? And one of the logical things was that Jesse would be in a rival business, but he would be proud of what he was doing and be pretty good at it, and the money would come in. The logical thing then is that Jesse goes on an adventure and Walt becomes too ill to help him, or he leaves the place and lets Jesse run the operations.
Except this plot didn’t stick and the rest of Season 5 ended up going the other way, with Jesse’s guilt wanting to end Matthew and the illegal life, while Walt became more “above ground” and continued at all costs. As Schnauzer reminds us:

“Walt can be torn apart. They did a terrible thing (…). So much so that he is depressed and tries to convince Jesse that: “Of course it was a terrible thing, but you have to be strong and move forward, and follow me In this success.” Mike leaves and Walt doesn’t want to be alone.”
Interestingly, Jesse was originally supposed to be the mob boss instead of Walt. However, this was followed by a less emotionally powerful series, as it was Walt’s journey from being a so-called “chef” to paying medical bills to the head of an entire network that left an impression on viewers. Especially in parallel with the life of the young apprentice Jesse, who realizes that his mentor has gone wrong, tries his best to escape from him.

Jesse’s narrative arc continues after the end of Breaking Bad in the TV movie El Camino: A Breaking Bad Story. It lets us know what happened to this young man who was traumatized by his experience with Walter White, all with a few surprises.
