Bahia repeats the writings of the last 15 years in the Brazilian championship with ten triumphant goals

The last time ten goals were scored in Serie A was in 2008, while a 6-4 victory had occurred two years earlier, in 2006.

An exotic game if analyzed from different points of view. At the opening of the 26th round of the 2023 Brazilian Serie A championship, Goiás and Bahia faced each other at the Hailé Pinheiro Stadium, Serrinha, in Goiânia/GO, this Saturday afternoon (7). And the match gave more than everyone expected. Better than the Esquadrão de Aço, who won 6-4. The highlight of the match was the striker Everaldo, with three goals scored, fundamental for Bahia’s triumph.

Tricolor da Boa Terra scored two goals in a three-minute period, with Everaldo on 15 and Gilberto on 18. Esmeraldino got one back with Guilherme Marques on 27, but Everaldo extended the visitors’ lead ten minutes later. However, in injury time, the home team equalized with another goal from Guilherme Marques and Matheus Babi. In the second half, Goiás turned the game on its head through João Magno after five minutes, but Everaldo and Rafael Ratão turned Bahia on its head again five minutes later. In injury time, Gabriel Teixeira sealed the result.

Despite the busy scoreboard, it was not the first time that a Brazilian championship match saw ten goals scored with this score. The clash between Goiás x Bahia repeated events that happened more than 15 years ago in the history of Série A.

At the opening of the Brasileirão 2008, Portuguesa de Desportos returned to the elite of Brazilian football in the clash against Figueirense played in Canindé, São Paulo/SP, on 11 May. Lusa scored three goals in three minutes and took a 5-2 lead, but conceded an equalizer to Figueira in injury time. It was the last time a match recorded ten goals before what happened on Saturday (7) in Serrinha. At the time, Marcos Aurélio, Patrício, Bruno Rodrigo, Diogo and Christian scored São Paulo’s goals, while Santa Catarina’s goals were scored by Rodrigo Fabri, César Prates, Felipe Santana (twice) and Bruno Santos.

The Brazilian championship also faced a score of 6 to 4. On November 1, 2006, in the 32nd round, Atletico hosted Vasco at the Arena da Baixada, in Curitiba/PR, and won with this score. The match had many alternations in the scoreboard, with Furacão and Cruzmaltino leading at several moments. Paraná’s goals came from Evanílson, Marcos Aurélio (twice), Danilo, David Ferreira and Pedro Oldoni, while the Rio de Janeiro natives scored with Ramon, Andrade (twice) and Leandro Amaral.
