Interpreter of Gal Costa in the cinema, Sophie Charlotte impresses when she sings in Altas Horas

As Faustão would say, maybe do it live. And Sophie Charlotte, who plays Gal Costa in the film “My Name Is Gal,” proved she doesn’t need dubbing to sing like the diva. She participated in the “Altas Horas” program on Saturday (7/10), where she attracted attention for singing the song “Divino Maravilhoso”, a Gal classic, in a divine and beautiful way.

After the presentation, Serginho Groisman cheered: “Sophie Charlotte! Long live Gal!”. “Long live Gal, forever! Long live Gal, in the most beautiful place, always! Thanks guys!”, replied the actress.

The actress’ performance drew a lot of praise on social media. “There’s absolutely nothing this woman doesn’t do well, right?” one internet user reacted, while another went further: “I could have put her in Marina Sena’s place to sing this thing on The Thown.” And there was no shortage of even more emotional comments: “The feeling I have after seeing the premiere of the film is that she was born to be Gal, what a magnificent, splendid, chilling work, my God!”

Gal Costa’s film

“Meu Nome É Gal” focuses on the beginnings of the career of the singer, who passed away last November at the age of 77, showing the choice of her stage name, the coexistence with her colleagues from Bahia during Tropicália, the time of desbunde and of the repression faced during the military dictatorship. All this with several amazing looks incorporated by Sophie.

Directed by Dandara Ferreira (who wrote and directed the documentary series “O Nome Dela É Gal”) and Lô Politii (“Alvorada”), the film also features Bahian Rodrigo Lelis (“A Matriarca”) as Caetano Veloso , Dan Ferreira (” Pixinguinha, Um Homem Carinhoso”) in the role of Gilberto Gil and Dandara Ferreira herself in the role of Maria Bethânia.

The premiere will take place on Thursday (12/10) in cinemas.
