The Exorcist: Allegiance, billed as the sequel to William Friedkin’s iconic 1974 film, hits theaters next Wednesday, October 11th.
Directed by David Gordon Green and produced by Jason Blum, who is already working on the final Halloween trilogy, the film is set in the present day in the United States.
Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom Jr.) is raising his daughter Angela (Lydia Jewett) alone. One day, Angela and her friend Catherine (Olivia O’Neill) disappear into the woods, only to reappear 72 hours later with no memory of what happened…
Since then, strange events follow each other and Victor has to face terrible evil forces. Desperate and terrified, she echoes the only person alive who has ever witnessed such events: Chris McNeill (Ellen Boorstyn).
As with the Halloween duo, The Exorcist: Allegiance is the first part of a trilogy. Greene and Bloom also managed to bring back Ellen Boorstyn and Linda Blair, two of the characters from the original feature film.
Originally announced in US theaters on October 13th, the horror film has finally been moved to this Friday, October 6th in the US due to the cinema broadcast of Taylor Swift’s concert: The Eras Tour.
