Brazilian Film Grand Prix: ‘Marighella’ is the film with the most nominations

The industry’s biggest accolade returns in face-to-face format, with a ceremony in Rio de Janeiro on August 10

THE Brazilian Academy of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts has just published the list of finalists of the 21st Brazilian Cinema Grand Prix. marghelladirected by Wagner Moura, it is the feature film with the most nominations, 17, including best feature, best direction, Best Actress for Adriana Esteves e best actor for Bruno Gagliasso and Seu Jorge, who plays the title character. The 2022 shortlist brings together more than 200 nominated professionals, 17 Brazilian feature films and 10 foreign feature films. Overall, 15 Brazilian shorts and 18 series are also in the running this year.

In 2022, more than a thousand professionals were registered in the different categories, 53 fictional features (including children and animation), 33 documentary feature films, 61 short films, 40 Brazilian series, 35 international feature films, 11 Ibero-American feature films. The winners will be chosen in the second round, which begins on June 20, with a vote among the members of the Academy.

There will also be a public vote on a date to be announced shortly and which will choose the favorite film among the Brazilian fiction (drama and comedy) and documentary finalists.
