Although he played some of the toughest characters in all of cinema, Sylvester Stallone is known for being quite sentimental sometimes. It becomes really evident whenever he talks about his love for her Rocky franchising. The 75-year-old actor rarely misses an opportunity to shout out at iconic boxing movies, especially when it comes to special occasions. And recently, rocky iii celebrated his 40th birthday and Stallone celebrated the milestone in a sweet way.
The trequel is certainly one of the most memorable installments in the legendary franchise and it certainly deserved some love when it turned 40. Sylvester Stallone paid tribute to him instagram sharing some photos and a caption, which he used to thank the fans for their continued support:
In the film, Rocky Balboa confronts himself the menacing Clubber Lang (played by the MT commander). The athlete ends up losing to Lang and then teams up with former opponent Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) to develop a fighting style that can usurp the arrogant Clubber. The final fight between Balboa and Lang is a sight to behold and you can get a taste of it by watching the presentation the actor shared in his post. This isn’t the first time Sylvester Stallone has posted a post on the 1982 film, as he has shared some great behind-the-scenes trivia in the past. And strangely, they both involve Hulk Hogan, who appeared in the film as the savage fighter Thunderlips. In the film, he and Balboa faced off in a boxing vs wrestling match for a fundraiser, which went astray pretty quickly. stallion once he reflected on the mock fight and praised Hogan like a “great athlete”. Some time later, she also shared another photo that they make you see the fight differently .
It’s hard not to love the actor’s nostalgia for these films, and last year that passion no doubt prompted him to release a extra scenes Rocky IV . The film makes a nice penny when released, prompting the protagonist to thank the fans . The third installment is a fairly tight film, although one wonders if Sylvester Stallone would consider releasing an extended cut at some point in the future.
Certainly passionate fans would appreciate the opportunity to see an alternate version of rocky iii, if the response to the recently released director’s cut is any indication.
