The first day of multivaccination involves the application of approximately 1,400 doses in Porto Alegre

Mayor Sebastião Melo attended the opening of the campaign in the Esplanada da Restinga

The Esplanada da Restinga, in the far south of the city, started the day with a different movement. This Saturday, the 14th, the place was the stage, starting at 10am, for the opening of the multi-vaccination campaign in Porto Alegre. Inflatable toys, a trampoline and the participation of characters such as Zé Gotinha and Azulito brought joy to the children who went to ensure vaccine protection. The Mobile Health Unit was parked next to the structure set up by the Municipality to receive the public. The service also took place at seven other services, from 10am to 7pm. The partial up to 6pm indicated the administration of 1,396 doses and evaluated the vaccination data of children and adolescents.

Mayor Sebastião Melo was in Restinga and underlined that the campaign has the fundamental role of carrying out active research to inform a greater number of families about the availability of vaccines. “Vaccination is not only an individual act, but also a collective one. Immunization has saved millions of people in the history of humanity. Next week all our stations will be open, from Lami to Sarandi, from Sarandi to the Parthenon, and from From the Parthenon to the Islands”, says the mayor.

The municipal health secretary, Fernando Ritter, showed the vaccination card created by the municipality, which is the legal document that must contain all the vaccines administered. “It is important to bring this document with you when administering the doses, so that the healthcare provider can update the immunization of each child,” he stressed. He thanked the operators who served the population this Saturday and recalled that the campaign continues throughout the week, involving 16 health units on duty until 10pm.

The director of SMS Primary Care, Vânia Frantz, recalled that, on the occasion of the opening of the multi-vaccination campaign, children born between June 2020 and December 2022 will also receive the baby booklet prepared by the secretariat. “The booklet was not available during this period, and the delivery allows you to qualify child care, allowing you to record information and understand who is responsible for different aspects of care,” she said.

In addition to the Esplanada da Restinga, the other seven services that served the public from 10am to 7pm were the US Bom Jesus, the US Farrapos, the CF 1º de Maio, the CF Santa Marta, the US São Carlos, the US Rubem Berta and US Tristeza.

Roberta Abreu brought her 1 year and 4 month old daughter Sofia with her to complete her vaccination booklet. At the Clínica da Família 1º de Maio you guaranteed the little one’s immunization against the triple bacterial infection. “The vaccine prevents and helps us take care of our children,” she said.

The director general of Health Surveillance, Evelise Tarouco, spoke about the importance of ensuring immunization to keep preventable diseases under control, reducing mortality. “Vaccines prevent diseases such as infantile paralysis, measles, mumps, rubella, whooping cough and meningitis, for example, which can develop into serious conditions, so it is essential to ensure protection,” she explained.

The multi-vaccination campaign began this Saturday, the 14th, across the country to encourage parents and guardians to update the vaccination records of children and adolescents up to 15 years of age. When requesting it is important to present the vaccination card. Those who have not yet been vaccinated against Covid-19 and flu will also be able to take advantage of the opportunity to get vaccinated.
