Last Monday, TF1 launched Cannes Police Criminelle, its new detective series with an international co-production led by Lucy Lucas ( Clem ), Shaim and Jamie Bamber ( Battlestar Galactica ), with much fanfare.
Created by Patrick Nebut and Chris Murray, this six-episode fiction series follows the investigations of Leah Robert and Camille Delmas, two police officers whose investigations are constantly disrupted by a mysterious criminal named Harry, who proves to be a valuable asset.
After offering the first three episodes of Policewomen Adventures last week, TF1 will broadcast the final three episodes of Cannes Police Criminal this Monday, October 16.
Will there be a second season?
As of now, TF1 has yet to announce if Cannes Police Criminalelle will return for a second season. The channel is not actually the sole decision-maker, the series is a joint production of the United States, the United Kingdom and France. .
However, the future of the fiction is very much compromised given the reception of the first three episodes last week. In fact, the first two installments of Cannes Police Criminal gathered an average of only 2.63 million curious people, which represents 14.1% of the market in the main target of purchasing women under 50.
A very average score that shouldn’t convince Front Page to offer a season 2 to Cannes Police Crime. Another black point that should not tip the scales towards the upgrade: many negative reviews about dubbing.
As a co-production of Cannes Police Criminal, the episodes were shot in English. Therefore, all scenes had to be dubbed in French by the three actors themselves. Lucy Lucas and Tamara March were coached by Pierre-Edouard Bellanca, who helped them dissect texts, subtexts and their subtleties.
Unfortunately, this risky bet failed to convince viewers, who did not hesitate to express their displeasure on social networks. Not sure if these reactions will prompt TF1 to order a Season 2 for Cannes Police Criminal…
