Palmeiras launches special uniform to support breast and prostate cancer awareness

The special shirt will be used in Thursday’s match (19th) between Palmeiras x Atlético-MG

Palmeiras, together with Puma, launched a special uniform in support of the “Pink October” and “Blue November” campaigns, which aim to draw public attention to breast and prostate cancer respectively. The presentation took place this Monday (16th), at the headquarters of the AC Camargo Cancer Center, a reference hospital for the treatment of the disease, in Sao Paulo.

The special shirt will be used this Thursday (19th), in the match between Palmeiras x Atlético-MG, which will take place at Allianz Parque, at 7pm, for the 27th round of the Brasileirão. All these actions are part of alviverde’s institutional program, “For a Greener Future”. According to information, both Verdão and Puma, the club’s sports equipment supplier, will not make any profit and the money raised will go to AC Camargo.

The new uniform was created with two colors, one half pink (breast cancer) and the other blue (prostate cancer). On the right side of the chest there is pink with the PUMA logo and, on the left, the club’s historic “P” embroidered above the blue color. On the back of the shirt there is the signature “For a Greener Future”. There is also another one, white, with blue and pink details, but this one will not be used during Thursday’s match. The shirts will be sold exclusively via a digital auction, which will take place from November 1st – the uniforms used by the players can be purchased upon autograph. The buyer will also be able to choose to collect the shirt directly from the Football Academy, with the right to a guided tour of the Verdão sports centre, or receive it at home, anywhere in Brazil.

President Leila Pereira commented on the action. “More than a football club, Palmeiras is an organization committed to the challenge of having a positive impact on the football industry and society as a whole. Through the For a Greener Future programme, the club works to encourage responsible behavior and carries out various social and nature actions, leveraging the broad reach of your brand,” he said.

He also highlights that the council is very pleased to be carrying out this awareness raising action. “If we want to transform the world into a better place, everyone, without exception, must contribute. Our management is very pleased to commit to such an important cause as the prevention and treatment of breast and prostate cancer.”

The president of PUMA Brasil, Sebastián Dias, underlined that this shirt is historic for the brand. “This is one of the most significant kits we have created since the beginning of the partnership between Palmeiras and PUMA. Wearing the jersey for a much-needed cause, together with the club, is extremely rewarding, meaningful and historic for the brand.”
