As all Game of Thrones fans remember, the ten and a half months between the end of Season 5 and the start of Season 6 were long, very long…

Indeed, on June 14, 2015, at the end of the final episode, which had already stored many emotions for us (the death of Stannis killed by Brienne, Daenerys’ departure to the Dothraki plains or Cersei’s walk of shame), Jon Snow, unanimously considered by viewers of the HBO series to be one of the untouchables of the show Heroically, he was killed in cold blood, stabbed to death by the soldiers of his own night watch.

Even though the last shot of the episode left them with a bloodied and dying Jon Snow on the snow, and knowing that many other heroes who were considered vulnerable had fallen before him, Game of Thrones fans have had almost a year. They are looking for the smallest clue that will give them hope for the hero’s return in season 6.

It was in this particular context that Kit Harington, the British interpreter for the Commander of the Night’s Watch, experienced a misfortune that was unusual to say the least. As he later said Jimmy Fallon set, he was one of the only ones (along with the two series creators and book writer George RR Martin) who knew about Jon Snow’s return in the next season. Information that they were strictly asked to protect, but he still revealed it to his parents, girlfriend and… the police!

“I was coming back from my parents’ house and I was driving very fast. I was not good, I exceeded the speed limit and I heard a police siren behind me”said Kit Harington.

“A policeman came out and asked me to pull over, and I apologized, a little sheepishly. He said, ‘Do you realize how fast you were driving?’ This is punishable by a fine.” I apologized again, admitted. Then he told me: “Look, there are two ways to solve this. Either follow me to the police station and I will record you, or you can tell me if you are or not. Alive in the next season of Game of Thrones.”

According to his own words, the funny actor then performed without discussion and told the police officer about his return in the 6th season.

“I laughed, but he remained adamant, saying: ‘I must warn you that your visit to the police station will depend on your answer.’ I looked at him and told him I was alive for the next season. So he said, “On my way, Lord Commander.”

After returning in the first episode of Season 6, Kit Harington continued to play Jon Snow until the end of the series, Season 8, which aired in 2019.
