Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Johnny Depp refused to date a woman in the film

In the fifth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean saga, which hit theaters in 2017, Jack Sparrow meets the sinister Salazar, played on screen by Javier Bardem. But did you know that in one of the first versions of the script, the main antagonist of the film was supposed to be a woman?

Terry Rossio, the screenwriter of the first four installments of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, has begun work on the script for the fifth opus. A scenario in which the hero played by Johnny Depp confronts evil. But the idea was rejected… by Johnny Depp himself, who was unruly on the set of the film.

“My version of Pirates of the Caribbean 5 got shelved because the villain was a woman”Terry Rocio said in his blog in 2017. “Johnny Depp was worried it would be too much dark shadowswhere the villain is also a woman.” In Tim Burton’s film, Depp met the villain in the form of witch Angelique Bouchard, played by Eva Green.

Terry Rossio, who believes that his script was “put on the back burner”Then raise your voice. “There’s a chance that my script is just messed up, but usually when I reread one that wasn’t produced, it holds up and is often better than the one that was produced.”he declares.

And the American screenwriter concludes bitterly, to say the least: “Sometimes all it takes is one decision, often a whim, to destroy years of history and create a world. Of the thousands of scenarios that don’t get made, only one will end.” Johnny Depp should have had ears.

Terry Rossio, believed to be executive producing Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge, ultimately did not sign on to the script, leaving the task to Jeff Nathanson. The feature film, directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, has earned nearly $800 million worldwide.

And now, what about the sixth movie? Disney Studios recently confirmed a “weird” script, which is proof that the iconic saga may not have said its last word yet…
