Confirming that it is betting heavily on South Korean productions, Netflix has announced the renewal of the horror series “Sweet Home” for another two seasons. The news was announced through an animated video, which you can see below.
Originally released in late 2020, “Sweet Home” has had good critical acclaim and a significant international audience. It was the first South Korean attraction to appear in the company’s American Top 10, reaching number 3, nine months before the “Round 6” phenomenon.
Even so, the renewal was delayed and came only after hits from other countries, including “All of Us Are Dead” and “Hell’s Prophecy”.
Based on the webtoon of the same name, the series takes place after a strange phenomenon turns people into deformed and crazed monsters and shows the struggle for survival during this bizarre pandemic. The plot focuses on an uninfected group, trapped inside a building, as the world transforms into chaos.
Director Lee Eung-bok (of “Descendants of the Sun” and “Goblin”) will remain at the helm of the new episodes and will rotate seasons 2 and 3 on an ongoing basis for upcoming streaming releases. But there is no release date yet.
