Brazil achieved its first gold at the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile. This Saturday morning (21), Rayssa Leal dominated the skate streethe did 236.98 points and took first place. Meanwhile, the other Brazilian, Pâmela Rosa, who did it 211.34, won the silver medal. Closing out the podium was the American Genevieve Paige who received the score of 176.35.
Brazil got off to a great start, with Rayssa and Pamela leading the first lap. Fadinha opened with a score of 76.03 points, while Pamela scored 70.24 in the first round and soon after a 73.17 which has been replaced as the skater’s best score in this category. In total, there were seven notes, two notes in turn, and each skater used the highest one. In addition to the scores in five maneuver attempts, where each athlete uses the two highest scores.

There was a tense moment, when the Brazilians had a slower start to the maneuvers and Colombian Alexandra Álvarez took the lead. But on the third attempt, Brazilian Pamela Rosa managed to pull off a safe maneuver and returned to the fight. Afterwards, Rayssa Leal made two good maneuvers and regained the lead of Colombia.
Shortly after, Pamela Rosa returned once again and achieved the second highest score in the maneuvers, with 77.44 and was back in second place, behind only Fadinha from Brazil. In total, Rayssa achieved the highest scores in both categories, 76.03 in her turn and 84.23 in the maneuver. Another strong point was Alexandra Álvarez, who thrilled the audience, but she remained off the podium, with 164.12 points at the end of the competition.
