The third part of the Paddington saga has found its director and title!
In February 2021, StudioCanal announced Paddington’s return for a third adventure in cinema. The project seems to be progressing after the name and director have just been revealed.
For his third big-screen adventure, the famous Teddy Bear, created by Michael Bond in 1958, is set to return to Peru. Here’s what the title of the third part suggests: Paddington in Peru.
So the little bear in the blue rain and in the red hat must find his forest and Aunt Lucy. Elements of the scenario have not yet been revealed and it is not yet known whether Sally Hawkins and Hugh Bonneville (who collect the bear glasses as soon as they arrive at Paddington Station) will be there.
In terms of staging, we knew Paul King would not return to directing, the latter currently co-starring with Timothy Shalames in Wonka, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Still, he collaborated on screenwriting (with Simon Farnaby, Mark Burton, John Foster, and James Lamont) and as a feature film producer.
Therefore, Dougal Wilson, the award-winning commercial director, was chosen as the director of the third film. This will be his first feature film. The first two films were commercial and critical success at over $ 500 million worldwide, with ratings of 97% and 99% on Rotten Tomatoes and 4 stars (press and viewers) on AlloCiné.
Filming in Paddington, Peru, will begin in 2023 and will take place in London and Peru.
