Palmeiras’ 5-0 defeat against Sao Paulo this Thursday (25th), in the Brasileirão, had Breno Lopes as the protagonist together with Piquerez. In the post-match press conference, coach Abel Ferreira wanted to present himself to the press together with the attacker.
“In good conscience there is only one player in the squad with whom I have been more unfair. Contrary to what some say, I don’t like many of them. There is only one who I said in front of the group and that I was “Unfair. This is Breno. When I look at myself, I put it in front of him when I should have chosen Breno. This was the player who could say I was unfair to him,” the coach said.
Abel also commented on the criticism and what Breno went through after not being used in some matches and still receiving harsh criticism from the stands.
“This save by Breno is thanks to him. The club we have always tries to find someone to blame, it seems like a player killed someone. If the club was as severe as it is with a player, we would certainly be much better off.”
With their second consecutive victory in the Brasileirão, Palmeiras reaches 50 points and remains in the group directly heading into the Libertadores group stage. The Alviverde team returns to the field on Saturday (28th), against Bahia, at 7pm (Brasilia time), at Allianz Parque, for the 30th round.
