With ten films in less than twenty years, the Saw saga is the most prolific of the 21st century in terms of horror. Regardless of the quality inversely proportional to the number of each new movie.
Between the events of I and II, with John Kramer (Tobin Bell) alive, has Saw X managed to turn things around?
Based on first impressions of AlloCiné viewers, the answer is yes. Kevin Greutert’s film starts with an average rating of 3.2 out of 5 (for 292 ratings)*, making it the second favorite opus in the saga. Right behind the original Saw 3.6 which seems unbeatable. And ahead of II’s 2.7, it’s considered the best sequel to date.
They liked it
Even among Internet users who gave it the highest rating, few were convinced of the usefulness of rebooting the device. Hence their surprise upon arrival: “This is one of the best ways”writing MarveLokirogers.
“It’s unlike any of its peers and stands out while staying true to the saga theme. (…) We can forget the last disastrous films in the franchise with this new film because John Kramer is back.”
It’s time to say goodbye to this incredible world that scared us and made us wonder
“A true technique that still manages to stand out from all the other opuses with its style”in turn confirms Maila Batrucci. but Bichel Le Reuftax (4 stars) admits it “The message is interesting”that this is an episode “The scariest and most uncomfortable” Those who have seen and welcome the final change “very thought provoking”.
“Unfortunately, you have to know how to say ‘cease and desist’ to make more and more movies.”he says at the end of his long review. “It’s time to say goodbye to this incredible world that scared us and made us wonder…”
as Frederick M. (3 stars), which “I hope the saga finds its proper conclusion in this 10th chapter.” However, without neglecting his pleasure.
They didn’t like it
“I like this way too)”tell us Audrey L (2.5 stars) to whom we owe this fine valve: “If you’re in the mood, check it out (you just have to grab one from the guy in the poster).”
Whether we like this new way or not, one element comes back to everyone: it’s ugly. And sometimes it’s unbearable. “This is the only thing that still keeps the audience in front of the screen of this movie”emphasizes Eldarkstone (2 stars) when Luke Garcia Regret “Explosion of Guts”.
If you have a heart, go check it out (you just have to grab one of these from the guy on the poster)
Internet users rate it 1 out of 5. “Intriguing at first”but Didier M. to do the same “For the lead actor trying to save himself from this shipwreck”. After the death of his character in Saw III, Tobin Bell is back in the flesh in this new film.
And while its performance is praised by Saw X fans, some detractors cite it as one of the rare positives: “Tobin Bell doing the best job”said Soen Gaudu (0.5 stars). “But the rest are a bunch of lovers, each one more annoying and unbearable than the last.”
The Jigsaw translator, in spite of himself, is concerned about one of the words that appears most frequently (with “hill”): “unhealthy”. Which is nothing new, given the torture each episode offers. But even with more positive reviews than usual, Saw X is no exception.
Final word
“They saw the series.“(culturevsnews – 3.5 stars)
And you ? What do you think of Saw X and the return of Jigsaw?
