The song will also be released on vinyl as a “double single” with a remix of the band’s first song, “Love Me Do”. John Lennon’s voice in the song was recovered with the help of artificial intelligence, but was not recreated
The Beatles’ long-awaited “last song” already has a date to reach the world. This Thursday 26th, Paul McCartney and Ring Starr announced that the song, entitled Now and Then, will be released on November 2nd.
The song has raised expectations since Paul provided more details and claimed that John Lennon’s voice was recovered with the use of artificial intelligence. However, it has not been recreated, as has been done recently with rumors of several idols who have already died. “Nothing was created artificially or synthetically. It’s all real and we all play with it,” the musician declared at the time.
In fact, the song features collaboration from all four members. Now and Then was initially written and sung by John Lennon and produced by Paul, Ringo and George Harrison. Four decades later, the remaining band members decided to finish the song.
The song will be released digitally, but also in physical versions on vinyl and cassette. In the disc version, the song will be a “double single” on the A-side with a remix of Love Me Do, from 1962, the group’s first song. The choice was described as “a very fitting circle”.
Now and Then will also have a clip that will be made available on November 3rd. There will also be a 12-minute behind-the-scenes documentary of the recording, which will be released on the first of the month. Watch the trailer above.
The band’s November releases don’t end with Now and Then, as the British group will also release expanded and updated editions of two of the band’s albums. Known as the “red” and “blue” albums respectively, The Beatles 1962-1966 and The Beatles 1967-1970 will feature approximately 10 new remixed tracks each.
