It was a great trip for everyone who took part magnum ip In the month since CBS officially canceled the sunny procedural drama, fans are waging an impressive effort to find the series starring Jay Hernandez a new home on another network or streaming platform. It is not clear how successful these efforts will be, NBC and the US may still be in contention to potentially resume the show for a fifth season, but no matter how it goes, a magnum ip the star couldn’t appreciate fandom more, with Stephen Hill sharing an incredible story of how the “#SaveMagnumPI” billboard in Times Square it served as a turning point in his career.
Stephen Hill, who played helicopter pilot Theodore “TC” Calvin for whom magnum ipAll four seasons of (so far) have been reflected in fan campaigns to revive the drama outside of the CBS cancellation. The actor took instagram with an inspiring story about where you were before in your career Magnum putting together a bit of Tom Hanks, a shot of Bubba Gump and a touch of ManifestHere’s how it started:
I saved an article from [Esquire] Many years ago, when they interviewed Tom Hanks and he told them a story about the cashing of unemployment checks at the Chemical Bank in Times Sq. Between 44th and Broadway, and years later they built a Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurant in the same space. It inspired me a lot because I was unemployed when I read it. I was working on the same corner of 44th and Broadway [Carmine’s Italian Restaurant] . January 10th 2017 was my last day there. . . . . I have a new manager and agent and have booked big projects like [Netflix’s Maniac] Yes [the film Widows] and I also booked a small role in a show called Manifest which I never filmed because we turned it down because I had booked [Magnum P.I.].
In his social media post, Stephen Hill shared some footage from his days at the Carmine, starting with the bar visit he and his colleagues shared on their last day. I love that it was an interview with Tom Hanks that fueled the actor’s inspiration to reach his goals higher and higher. Okay, not everyone is going to land something that massive Gump Forest and its weird “spin off” restaurant, so to speak, but it COULD happen to anyone, that’s more important.
It seems that everything could have worked out for Hill as well, even if he had taken on the role in Manifest, as this show has become a pop culture sub-phenomenon in its own right thanks to its silly storyline. Note that Manifest I do not have magnum iphowever, and it was also inevitably canceled on NBC if Netflix has intervened revive supernatural drama for a fourth and final season .
Either way, let’s go back to Stephen Hill’s story for his magical connection between where he was then and where he is now. In his words:
March 19, 2018 was the first day of filming for the Magnum pilot (just over a year after leaving Carmine’s). Fast forward to yesterday, Magnum PI’s most extraordinary fans posted a billboard in Times Sq. At 45th and Broadway … one block from Carmine … one block from Bubba Gump Shrimp. Now my story may not be as inspiring as the one Hanks told, but it is surprising and inspiring for me and the amazing Magnum PI fans. I am honored and remembered to enjoy the ride and to follow the signs. For Magnum PI fans, you are the best of the best. Thank you. ✊🏿
