HBO Max has released the first teaser of “Pretty Little Liars: A New Sin”, the third spin-off of “Pretty Little Liars”. The preview shows a mysterious figure organizing photos of his victims, while fragments of the original series theme play in the background.

Reflecting the trend of recent years, the new version of the 2010s attraction brings a more diverse cast, led by Bailee Madison (from the series “The Witch of Good”), Chandler Kinney (Riana Murtaugh in the series “Lethal Weapon” / Lethal Weapon), Maia Reficco (star of the Argentine children’s series “Kally’s Mashup”), Zaria Simone (seen in “Black-ish”) and Malia Pyles (from “Baskets” and “Batwoman”).

The five form the group of girls who become involved in the dark mystery of the new attraction.

The subtitle, in turn, has to do with the sins committed by her parents 20 years ago, when the secret events nearly destroyed the town of Millwood, which is not the same as the original series, set in Rosewood. Because of these sins, teens are tormented by an unknown molester and forced to pay for something they are unaware of … and for their own sins.

Interestingly, this premise is the same as Freddie Krueger’s origin in the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” franchise.

“Pretty Little Liars” ran for seven seasons from 2010 to 2017, during which time it helped popularize former ABC Family channel and act as a bridge to its transformation into Freeform. In addition, the production launched the careers of its main cast members, most notably the quartet of Lucy Hale, Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson and Shay Mitchell, who play the beautiful original liars.

Despite the success, the attraction’s producer, I. Marlene King, did not achieve the same result with the release of two spin-offs, “Ravenswood” (2013) and “The Perfectionists” (2019), which were canceled. in the first season, no audience. Therefore, HBO Max decided to look for another creator to direct the third spin-off.

Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is at the helm of the project with a mission to bring the franchise back just five years after the original series ended and three years after the latest spin-off failed. Aguirre-Sacasa will share the scripts with Lindsay Calhoon Bring, collaborator of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

The series will debut on July 28, with the availability of the first three episodes.
