Bradesco’s CEO (BBDC4) reveals 42 thousand work processes; ‘absurd’

Octavio de Lazari, CEO of Bradesco (BBDC4) and chairman of the board of directors of Febraban, addressed the issue of labor lawsuits faced by the bank in a statement released during the BNDES Forum on Law and Development, held at the development bank’s headquarters.

According to what was revealed by the executive, Bradesco currently risks around 42 thousand work processes. Lazari said the volume is excessive and deserves attention.

“We have 42 thousand labor cases in court. I’m not saying that we are saints, that we don’t make mistakes. But 42 thousand labor cases are absurd”, he commented.

He mentioned this number of processes and the amounts involved are regularly reviewed and discussed internally within the bank, week by week.

“Civil is another big challenge. The way some law firms are acting is worrying,” he said.

Bradesco’s CEO talks about the “importance of economic growth”

During the event, the executive underlined the importance of economic growth as a fundamental way to improve social indicators.

He argued that social programs, public funding and court decisions are insufficient to protect the most vulnerable populations without healthy economic growth.

“We cannot relativize the only thing that can get us out of the current situation,” he declared.

He underlined the importance of tax reform to simplify the tax system and attract investments, in order to ensure the country’s sustainable growth.

“It’s mathematics. Collect it and apply it. But if the country doesn’t grow, none of this is possible.”

The president of Bradesco underlined that economic growth is essential to overcome the social and economic challenges that Brazil currently faces. She underlined that it is necessary to maintain focus on this objective to guarantee “a more prosperous future for the population”.
