Cold front and extratropical cyclones are organized in the Southern Region. The presence of humid and warm air facilitates the formation of heavy clouds in all regions.
Widespread areas of instability in southern Brazil, Paraguay and northeast Argentina will intensify this Thursday, with a sharp drop in atmospheric pressure over these regions. The intense flow of hot and humid air coming from the north of Brazil towards the south and Paraguay accentuates the drop in atmospheric pressure.
Throughout this Thursday, these areas of instability will be organized by a cold front over southern Brazil, associated with an extratropical cyclone over Rio Grande do Sul. The formation process of these two systems forms highly charged clouds, which could cause storms over southern Brazil.
Warm and humid air predominates over the country and other heavy clouds form in the Southeast, Central-West, North and also in the Northeast.

Weather forecast for Brazil from 11/02/2023 to Thursday
Southern region
Areas of instability that gain strength and expand over southern Brazil will organize as a cold front and extratropical cyclone throughout the day. Very heavy clouds are spreading over the southern region and will cause thunderstorms during the day in the three states.
In the central-north and north-west of Paraná there are still periods with sun among many clouds, but there is no lack of conditions for rain and lightning at any time.
In eastern Paraná (includes Curitiba), in southern and western Paraná, in Santa Catarina and in Rio Grande do Sul, the day is cloudy, with many rain showers long day.
In the three southern states of Brazil there is a risk of thunderstorms. The heaviest rainfall is forecast for the central-northwestern area of Rio Grande do Sul, the mountainous region of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, the central-western area of Santa Catarina and the southwestern Paraná
South-eastern region
Warm, moist air predominates over the southeastern region and heavy clouds develop across the region. An area of low atmospheric pressure is located above the ocean, near the coast of Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro. There is risk of heavy rain in Minas Gerais and in the areas of São Paulo that border Minas, Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraná.
In Espírito Santo, in the Zona da Mata Mineira, in the Vale do Rio Doce and in the state of Rio de Janeiro, there are periods with the sun between many clouds and it can rain at any time. A rain is moderate in the interior of Rio de Janeiro and in the Zona da Mata of Minas Gerais, but can be strong in the areas of Espírito Santo.
In Sao Paulo and other regions of Minas Gerais, the sun appears early in the morning, along with some clouds, and rain showers with lightning are expected in the afternoon and evening.
Midwest Region
Warm, moist air predominates over the Midwest and heavy clouds develop over most of the region.
In the center, west and north of Mato Grosso the sun appears all day and a few clouds develop during the day, but the chance of rain is slim.
In the south and central-east of Mato Grosso, in the Federal District and in Goiás, the sun appears for most of the day and forecasts rain showers with lightning in the afternoon and evening. Moderate to heavy rain may occur in Goiás and the Federal District.
The risk of thunderstorms is greatest in Mato Grosso do Sul due to its proximity to a low atmospheric pressure center over Paraguay. In the Corumbá region it simply shouldn’t rain.
In the south of Mato Grosso do Sul it rains at any time and in the rest of the state it will rain starting in the afternoon. There is a risk of heavy rain throughout the state.
North-East Region
Moist air spread over northeastern Brazil and heavy clouds again spread across almost the entire region, causing rain showers.
It is not expected to rain only in the small area on the border between Piauí and Ceará, in the interior of Ceará, in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte and Paraíba and in the areas of Agreste and northern Pernambuco.
The sun appears strong during the day in all states. It can rain quickly in the north and on the coast of Maranhão, in the coastal areas from Ceará to the south of Bahia and in the south of Bahia.
Rain showers with lightning, which can be strong, they can occur in the afternoon or at night in the interior of Bahia, in Teresina, in the interior of Piauí and in the interior of Maranhão, but the sun appears strong.
Northern Region
Dry air and moist air predominate in the northern region and heavy clouds develop across almost the entire region.
In the interior of Amapá, in the south of Roraima, in the east of the Amazon, in the south of Rondônia, in the center, west and south of Pará, the sun appears strong throughout the day, some clouds develop, but there there is little chance of rain. Some rain showers may occur on the Amapá coast.
The other areas of the Northern Region have sunny periods and rain showers with lightning mainly in the afternoon and night. There is a risk of heavy rain in the center, west and south of Amazonas, Acre and Rondônia.
