Do you remember the period when film adaptations of youth sagas became fashionable? Many of them were successful, while others failed to surpass the first film. But Divergent was one of the strongest cases, especially since the last film never came out.
However, it seems that the author of the novels has already made peace with the adaptation and believes that the saga “is complete”.
A fashion that wasn’t for everyone
Harry Potter began, with his last two films, the bad practice of dividing the last book of a saga into two feature films to “adapt it more faithfully” (so the producers said, while they had dollar signs in their eyes). Dusk, Hunger Games and Divergent followed suit, but it didn’t work out very well for all of them.
The saga has as its protagonist Shailene Woodley should split the last book in two: Convergent, from 2016, and the second part, Ascendant, which is scheduled to be released in theaters in 2017. But poor box office results have left the franchise without an end. There were even rumors of a TV series but, like the fourth part, it never happened.

In a recent interview, Veronica Rothauthor of the books, declared that she already takes it for granted that the saga is over and sees it as a complete story:
