“Barbenheimer” is real. The term was coined to reflect the success of the simultaneous release of the films “Barbie”, about the famous doll, and “Oppenheimer”, a biopic about the scientist who created the atomic bomb, but now it will become the title of an unreleased feature film, made by a cheap terror manufacturing company.
The surreal plot of “Barbenheimer” will revolve around a doll called Bambi J Barbenheimer, a scientist who lives in Dolltopia, a colorful world of parties and beaches. When she visits the real world and sees how children treat dolls, she decides to build a nuclear bomb to destroy everything.
The idea came from producer and screenwriter Charles Band, who transformed his Empire Pictures into a mecca of cult horrors on VHS in the 1980s. The production company went bankrupt in 1988, but Band continued with Full Moon, even producing sequels to its original classics.
When asked by The Hollywood Reporter magazine whether his new film was just an opportunity to profit from the phenomenon, Band responded that it was “100 percent true.” But he added: “It’s also an opportunity to have fun with the partnership between the two films, combining the energy of ‘Barbie’ and the sobriety of ‘Oppenheimer.’ Mix the two and you have a great opportunity for dark humor “.
Is a new blockbuster on the way?
