Doctor Strange Now Has His Own Version of “Kryptonite”

Doctor Strange is one of Marvel’s most powerful heroes, but now he has a kryptonite-like weakness for Superman

Doctor Strange is Marvel Comics’ Sorcerer Supreme, one of the publisher’s most powerful characters. His magical weapons and various spells can attack and protect him like few heroes can. However, Stephen Strange now has a weakness to an artifact that brings to mind comparisons to Superman’s Kryptonite.

Beware of spoilers for Doctor Strange #9!

In the previous issue, Clea tries to kill General Strange, a dark and distorted version of the Sorcerer Supreme, with a knife made of Misteryum — the new and mysterious metal of mutants. And now, inside Doctor Strange #9recently released, Doctor Strange is injured with this weapon, which manages to isolate all sources of magic previously available to the hero, such as that of Vishanti, for example.

The Misteryum has altered the balance of power in the Marvel Universe, as it has become a type of currency throughout the galaxy, helping to boost the economy on many worlds. And because this metal can interact with magic in unique ways, even negating it, it has become an even more valuable artifact.

It is not yet known exactly how Doctor Strange will fare with an increasing number of mysteriums available on Earth, especially with the arrival of a new batch brought by Iron Man, who designed armor made from this material. But what is certain is that everyone who works with magic on the planet now has to worry about the users of this artifact.
