$944 million: One of the best fantasy comedies returns with a terrifying trailer!

The ghost hunt will begin again in the dark rooms! After Ghostbusters: Legacy, which was released on December 1, 2021, the sequel is already gearing up to hit theaters. The characters of the first opus, McKenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard, Phoebe and Trevor will return.

Carrie Coon and Paul Rudd will also reprise their roles as Callie and Mr. Gruberson. They will be supported in their pursuit of ghosts by former hunters Peter Venkman, Ray Stanze and Winston Zedemore, played by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson.

The latter also had a very bad track record with 80s feature films, as we revealed in an article published in March 2023.

According to the first images, the scary ghost will be the new big bad of this episode! In French, the film was called Ghostbusters: The Ice Menace. A title that won’t deter thrill seekers! They will not be afraid to meet this terrible poltergeist!

It is screenwriter Gil Kenan, who signed the script for The Legacy, who this time takes the direction of this new opus. He takes over from Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, who directed two iconic episodes in 1984 and 1989.

After these films, the franchise fell into oblivion until 2016. The female reboot was directed by Paul Feig, which was very poorly received by critics and the public. The feature film was a dismal failure, grossing only $229 million worldwide against an estimated budget of $144 million.

As for Ghostbusters: Legacy, it was made on a smaller reboot budget (about 75 million). The feature film grossed $204 million internationally. Without a big hit, this minor success convinced Sony Pictures to start a sequel.

This will be the 4th ectoplasmic adventure in the main saga (and the 5th opus in the franchise, counting the 2016 reboot). The film will hit theaters on April 3, 2024.
