What’s in store for Astrid and Raphael Season 4: All the Challenges Season 4 starts tonight on France 2!

Astrid and Raphael are finally back! After an absence of almost a year, the two shock investigators, played by Sarah Mortensen and Lola Devaer, return to France 2 from this Friday, November 10, for a fourth season that is still full of investigations… and twists.

In this new season, Astrid and Raphael will solve new mysterious mysteries that will confront them with situations they have never faced before. The two friends will also see their sentimental and personal lives completely turned upside down by the events at the end of season three.

Thus, Astrid (Sarah Mortensen) will see Niels, her very invasive 7-year-old half-brother, whose existence she only just found out, appear in her well-ordered life. He also begins to form a strong relationship with Tetsuo, which will confront him with new problems.

Of course, he’ll be able to rely on Rafaela (Lola Deware) to give him honest advice while he’s in the midst of a love affair himself. While she was thinking about finally ending up with Nicolas (Benoit Michel), a misunderstanding will come over the dealing of the cards. And it’s not until the arrival of a new colleague, Nora (played by Sofia Yamna), who can handle the situation.

All Challenge Seasons

Creating a season 4 that can please all viewers while bringing in its share of new features is a real challenge for the writers, who have to do their best to refresh themselves. “This is season 4, so people come looking for their dates”, explained Alexandre de Seguins, creator and screenwriter of Astrid and Raphael at the press briefing.

So we have to try to bring something new and keep our characters as they are. The challenge is to succeed in reinventing yourself without losing what is at the core of the series. Because renewing yourself and losing focus would be almost worse than not developing.”

And for this new season, the writers have tried to push the story and characters beyond what they’ve been able to offer before. “We had a lot of fun pushing the cursors and trying to push the genres a little further while staying within the traditional codes of the series.

“Astrid and Rafael remain in the detective series, but we tried to break the codes, for example, by filming the episode where the diamond theft took place. Ocean’s Eleven, or by doing an episode with time travel. We like to play with genre codes.

Astrid and Raphael being the heart of the series, it was also incredible for the writers to extract the essence of these characters. For this season 4, the writers tried to put the two characters in new situations while being careful not to take them away from who they are.

For Astrid’s character, we put a lot of emphasis on treating the subject of autism with precision and kindness,Alexander de Ségien revealed. “We didn’t want to do anything. So we tried to put this character in new situations and challenge him.”

For Raphael’s character, we’re developing his relationship with Nicolas this season. But this is a situation we’ve been working on for 4 seasons, so we couldn’t pretend it hadn’t happened in the previous three seasons. So we must continue to stay the course.

Watch season 4 of Astrid et Raphaëlle every Friday from 21:10 on France 2. The first 3 seasons are fully available on the France.tv platform.
