Despite their previous collaborations on The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception and The Dark Knight Rises, filmmaker Hans Zimmer was asked to tackle the new project blindly, not even specifying what the film was about or its very specific genre.
in the interview guard In 2014, the composer said: “Chris said to me in his usual casual tone, ‘Hans, if I write a page about a topic without telling you what it is and give you the page, can you go ahead?’ project?”. A request he obviously accepted!
On the page in question, Hans Zimmer discovers a short story about a father who is forced to leave his son to do an important job with only two lines of dialogue. An excerpt from an old conversation about two men’s children is also mentioned.

The composer then starts working on the music that inspires him before playing it to the director. “I could see it moved He said, “I think it’s better to make a movie now.”
Only then does the director explain his idea to him: “An epic tale of space, science and humanity on a spectacular scale” !
Thanks to this remarkable feat, Hans Zimmer has created a soundtrack that is both grand and personal, integral to the success of Nolan’s feature film.
