The first live-action trailer Avatar: The Last Airbender It was released. In addition to presenting the first images of the series, Netflix, responsible for the production, revealed the premiere date: February 22, 2024.
Announced in 2018, production on the live-action was supposed to begin in 2019, however, with the departure of the original producers and creators of the animation, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the project was put on hold until 2020.
Albert Kim (Sleepy Hollow) took over as showrunner and also produces the series alongside Dan Lin (A Lego Adventure), Lindsey Liberatore (Walker) and Michael Goi (American Horror Story).
Avatar: The Last Airbender takes place after the Fire Nation has taken its first step towards world conquest by attacking and annihilating the Air Nomads. The action broke the peace between the four nations of the world, maintained by the Avatar, the master of the four elements.
The series tells the story of young Air Nomad Aang, who awakens in a world gripped by war. Along with new friends Sokka and Katara, he embarks on a great quest to claim his rightful place as the next Avatar.
