The production company A24 is developing a biopic on the tycoon Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, owner of the social network X (formerly Twitter) and the SpaceX rocket and Tesla electric car factories. The studio, responsible for this year’s Oscar-winning “Everything in Every Place at the Same Time,” is in directing negotiations with director Darren Aronofsky, of “Black Swan” and “The Whale.”
The film will not be a blank sheet. The production will follow the unauthorized biography of Musk, written by Walter Isaacson (who had previously delved into the life of Steve Jobs), recently published in Brazil by Intrínseca. It is worth mentioning that Jobs’ biography was brought to the cinema in 2015 by Universal, with Michel Fassbender as the Apple CEO.
Born in South Africa and a naturalized American, Musk gained even more notoriety when he bought Twitter for $44 billion and renamed it X. The changes he implemented on the platform have come under severe criticism and include the massive layoffs of employees, changes to the user verification system and hiding the title of journalistic articles shared on the social network. Since his purchase, the former Twitter has lost more than 50% of its market value.
Full of extravagances, controversial opinions and children – there are ten, including three with the pop singer Grimes -, Musk has a net worth estimated, in October 2023, at more than 200 billion dollars.
