Netflix has released the poster and first trailer for “Yu Yu Hakusho”, a live-action series based on the manga of the same name. Released at the Geeked Week online event this Friday (11/10), the preview summarizes the premise, showing Yusuke seeing his dead body and then being asked to return to life as a supernatural detective. The video also features several fights, different characters and announces the release date of the production.
Created by Yoshihiro Togashi (same author as “Hunter x Hunter”) in 1990, the attraction was published until 1994, but remained popular thanks to the Toei Animation anime from the same period, which in addition to the episodes shown from 1992 to 1995 , has also spawned two spin-off feature films and an OVA series (released directly to video) – the most recent being 2016.
The plot follows Yusuke Urameshi, a teenage delinquent who, after losing his life in an act of heroism, receives a second chance at life as a “Spiritual Detective”. In this role, Yusuke investigates several cases involving demons and ghosts in the human world, as well as meeting several characters, including the villain Toguro, shown in the preview.
Just as it did with the successful “One Piece”, Netflix will tell the story of the manga from the beginning, before arriving at the saga of the Dark Tournament, the highlight of the anime.
It is produced by Kaata Sakamoto and Akira Morii, the duo responsible for another successful Netflix anime adaptation, “Alice in Borderland.” The cast includes Takumi Kitamura (“Tokyo Revengers 2”) as Yusuke, as well as Shuhei Uesugi (“Followers”), Kanata Hongo (“Fullmetal Alchemist”), Sei Shiraishi (“Girl Gun Lady”) and Jun Shison (” The God of cinema”).
The first will be on December 14th.
